New Teatowel Designs

I've just launched three new teatowel designs which are proving to be very popular. The sailor print is inspired by a trip to Jamestown last summer when we stayed with or friend who was a descendent of the team that won the Americas cup onboard The Resolute, this design features some items from their home and combined with memories of a trip to France also that summer.

This design "Le bateau" comes in two colourways a beautiful sea blue and a lovely mustard yellow/green. The third design is part of our Laduz collection and features the famous Laduz design with images drawn from the collections of Musee Laduz in Burgundy. We think it offers a bright fifties feel and brightens up any kitchen. All three designs are available to buy from our online shop now.

Top Drawer 2013

Wow it's been a busy couple of weeks since we showed at TopDrawer in London. We had a fantastic time meeting new people, old friends and gained some interesting leads and new stockists which will be revealed as the products make their way to their new homes. Doing a trade show like TopDrawer is a daunting experience but it is also very rewarding. It's great to hear feedback on your range from existing and new stockists

and you can have some great conversations with people. My most memorable was pursuading a man that collecting Edward Bawden books was a worthwhile pastime and an investment for the future. Sometimes it's nice to have a great chat that can be entirely unrelated to your work but that you are very passionate about. But the best suprise of all was my very dear friend Kit coming along out of the blue, this is her trying to decide on the best bunny brooch.

Deyrolle

DEYROLLE

We visited a beautiful shop called Deyrolle in Paris. It was stuffed to the gunnells with taxidermy animals including lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Un Beau Voyage Paris

I have been so busy of late with no time to spend doing things to inspire, excite or challenge my thinking, so with much excitement I ventured to Paris with Seth this week for four beautiful days of doing exactly what we wanted. We stayed with my auntie and uncle at their beautiful apartment on the Boulevard St Michel. This picture was taken at her birthday last year but sums up the magical feeling of the apartment and sharing special times with loved family. lyndsay dancing

We visited a shop called Deyrolle on the Rue du Bac whilst we were there. As impressive as the Natural History Museum in Paris is this was just as impressive to see. The taxidermy animals are juxtaposed in intriguing situations, mad hatters tea parties, curiosity cabinets, the inevitable last supper with the hare sitting next to the zebra. They are so incredibly beautiful it is amazing to think that this could have all been lost after the fire in 2008 and thank god certain individuals managed to save it from devastation. They also sold beautiful old education prints and repro versions. As much as I fell in love with the beautiful little bird, frozen in time on their perches, forever beautiful, my budget didn’t quite stretch to them and I left with a beautiful cardboard blackboard to apply my own creations upon.

“I don’t suppose I really know you very well - but I know you smell like the delicious damp grass that grows near old walls and that your hands are beautiful opening out of your sleeves and that the back of your head is a mossy sheltered cave when there is trouble in the wind and that my cheek just fits the depression in your shoulder.”
